Parliament to convene for 2019/20 national budget from September 9

The 2019/2020 Budget Meeting of Parliament, which will be the 2nd Meeting in the 48th Session of Parliament, will take place from Monday, 9th September.

This has been disclosed in a statement released on Monday signed by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara.

According to the statement, the sitting of the new cohort of MPs will run from September 9 to to Friday, 11th October, 2019.

“All Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Honourable Members of Parliament are summoned to attend the Meeting at the time and place indicated until adjournment Sine Die herein fail not,” reads in part the letter.

Minister of Finance and Economic Development Joseph Mwanamvekha is expected to present the 2019/2020 national budget.

Apart from the budget presentation, Members of Parliament are expected to debate on a number of bills.
