Foreign nationals will no longer be allowed to adopt Kenyan children according to a ban by the Cabinet today, 12th September 2019.

The Cabinet meeting that was chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Statehouse delivered the immediate ban that will be lifted once a new policy document is formulated.

In attendance was at the special cabinet meeting was Deputy President William Ruto.

President Uhuru directed the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to formulate a new policy document which will regulate the adoption of Kenyan children by foreign nationals.

The Cabinet meeting directed that the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection streamlines the Child Welfare Society of Kenya operations together with all operations of all children’s homes in the country.

The special cabinet meeting also approved the hosting of the Nairobi Summit on the 12th and 14th of November 2019 at the KICC.

The approved conference will delve into matters regarding population and Development and is planning to host 6000 delegates from over 170 countries.

The special Cabinet also approved 6.9 billion shillings for the development of an Inland Container Depot, Logistics Zone, Railway Marshalling Yard and Public Utility Area.

The 6.9 billion shillings is expected to also cater for other infrastructural projects that will enable the development of Naivasha Special Economic Zone and the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) phase 2A which will complete the Chinese sponsored project.
