A SCHOOLGIRL in Kenya killed herself after being shamed in class for having her period and staining her uniform, according to reports.
The mum of 14-year-old Jackline Chepngeno reportedly said her daughter hanged herself after a teacher allegedly taunted her.
With about 200 angry parents protesting outside the school, police used tear gas to disperse a crowd.
The school has since been closed and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic teen’s death.
The girl’s mum, Beatrice Koech, said the teacher called her “dirty” in front of her classmates after period stains soaked through her clothes.
She told Kenyan media: “She had nothing to use as a pad.
“When the blood stained her clothes, she was told to leave the classroom and stand outside.
She said her daughter came home and told her what had happened, but then when she went to fetch water she killed herself.
