Police have arrested a 47-year old woman in Phalombe for allegedly killing her 54- year old husband.
The suspect, Margaret Lazaro hacked to death her husband Kenneth Makaniko on 8 September 2019 at Makocho village, senior Chief Kaduya in the districts.
According to Phalombe Police spokesperson Innocent Moses, the couple left home for beer drinking on the day of the incident.
“On their return home the husband asked for food to which the wife replied that there was no food since there was no relish. After this a fight ensued and the husband hacked the wife with an axe.
“He was then overpowered by his wife who hacked him several times on his head,” said Moses.
The husband Makaniko died at Migowi Health Center of hemorrhage shock due to severe loss of blood.
The wife was taken to Holy Family Mission Hospital where she is admitted and she will be taken to court after her discharge to answer murder charges.
Lazaro comes from Mandeule village while the deceased came from Makocho village in Senior Chief Kaduya’s area in the same district.
