Heavy Security Manning SADC Electoral Conference at Mount Soche

Reports reaching Faceofmalawi are indicating that there is a heavy presence of police at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre where the 21 Annual General Conference of the Electoral Commissions for Southern Africa Development Communities (SADC) is expected to start.

The conference is expected to be officially inaugurated by vice president Everton Chimulirenji.

Police agencies from Police Mobile Service (PMS) and general duties are manning the gates at the hotel where the conference is taking place.

Malawi Electoral commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah is expected to make her first public appearance since the inauguration of President Peter Mutharika on May 28.

The conference is bringing together delegates from electoral bodies of 16 SADC Countries.
