Anti-Ansah demonstrators chased by MDF soldiers in Mzuzu

Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldiers have chased some people who gathered at Katoto Ground in the ever green city of Mzuzu with an intention of proceeding with anti-Jane Ansah demonstrations.

According to an eyewitness, the protesters blocked the M1 road with stones and burnt woods.

On Wednesday, Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) announced that the three day demos which started Wednesday would not proceed as planned since HRDC leadership had to prepare for a court case tomorrow, after Attorney General had raised reservations on the protests in light of conditions of the expired 14 day moratorium.

The protesters in Mzuzu ignored the announcement and today resumed with the protest without the organizers hence MDF intervention.

Malawians led by HRDC are demanding for the immediate resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah for failing to manage the May 21 tripartite election.
