Passengers aboard a Tanzanian bus were on Sunday, September 29, evening forced to cut short their journey after realising the vehicle they were in was something close to a dumpsite.
The irate passengers angrily alighted and demanded the bus company to send them another vehicle as the one they were in was badly infested with bedbugs.
According to some of the passengers who spoke to members of the press, the bus was dirty and filled with bedbugs hence they could not travel in it. Many held that they were not ready to carry the pesky insects from the bus to their homes as the pests are known to spread as fast as lightning.
‘The bus is in a mess, we do not want to carry these things to our homes. We will only travel after the company brings another bus,” one of the passengers told the media. In a report filed by Millard Ayo, the Arizona bus company sent another vehicle to rescue the protesting passengers but that too had its own issues.
The alternative bus was in bad mechanical shape as confirmed by a traffic police officer who also ensured the one infected with bed bugs did not leave the scene until the company sent a roadworthy vehicle.
‘I could not allow the bus with bedbugs to continue with the journey, it was very dirty. They sent another bus but that one too had very many mechanical issues and I as a traffic officer could not let it carry the passengers,” a traffic officer at the scene revealed.
It took over five hours for the company to send a decent bus which then transported the passengers who were very much willing to get stranded but travel in peace.
