Gemstone mining site closed in Chitipa

Authorities in Chitipa have ordered temporary closure of a gemstone mine just days after impounding a truckload of precious stones that a Chinese firm is mining there.
It is said that Chinese film mining the said gemstone was smuggling the products to Tanzania, causing the Malawi government to lose lots of millions from the deal.
