Chikulamayembe’s office torched in Rumphi

As the fight for Themba la mathemba chikulamayembe throne continues, angry villagers have torched Chikulamayembe Headquarters in Bolero.

The incident happened in the wee hours on Tuesday, according to an eyewitness who rushed to the scene after the incident.

The development comes barely days after Joseph Bongololo Gondwe, who claims to be the heir to the throne of the chieftaincy, obtained an injunction stopping this year’s Gonapamuhanya Celebrations which were expected to take place on Saturday.

Bongololo Gondwe is against plans by the royal family and Tumbuka traditional leaders to install the late chief’s son Mtima Walter Gondwe as the new Chikulamayembe.

Meanwhile police officers from Rumphi have been deployed to Bolero to contain the situation.
