Mhone appeals Court ruling upholding Vuwa Kaunda’s victory

Former People’s Party (PP) Member of Parliament for Nkhata-Bay Central Constituency Raphael Mhone has appealed to the Supreme Court against a ruling the High Court in Mzuzu made declaring Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Symon Vuwa Kaunda as the legit winner of the May 21 parliamentary polls.

On September 16 this year, the High Court in Mzuzu ruled in favour of Vuwa Kaunda in the case in which the latter was disputing the outcome of the May 21 parliamentary polls.

The Court also ordered Mhone to settle all the expenses anchored by both parties in the case to the delight of Symon Vuwa Kaunda who challenged his opponent to appeal if he is not satisfied with the ruling.

Mhone has since appealed the case to Supreme Court.

Mhone’s lawyer, Wesley Mwafulirwa, confirmed the notice of appeal dated October 2, 2019.
