Nkhata Bay’s 20 houses set on Fire after villagers fight

In Malawi, Nkata Bay-Over 20 houses were on Tuesday set on fire  in Musakanene, Traditional Authority (T.A) Mkumbira in Nkhata Bay District following a fight that broke out between the village and Mkondezi Village of the same district.

According to a Brief report from the police indicate that people from Musakanene went to Mkondezi to hunt for a suspect who has been breaking into houses in their village.

The people pounced on a wrong suspect and people from Mkondezi ganged up to chase away the group from Musakanene.

A fight ensued and one from Mkondezi died upon reaching the hospital.

In retaliation a group from Mkondezi went to Musakanene on Tuesday where over 20 houses have been torched and four people have been seriously injured.

Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson Kondwani James says no arrest has been made so far but the situation is now calm.
