Why pregnant women need to eat at least one ripe banana daily

Bananas are fruits that are edible and are so nutritious to the human body. They can be eaten raw, cooked or left to get ripe and eaten as a fruit.

Ripe bananas contain healthy benefits because they are loaded with nutrients. These nutrients in ripe bananas are really important, especially to pregnant women.

A source of folic acid

Ripe bananas contain folic acid which is a component that is good and essential to the development of the unborn child. It is responsible for preventing any defect in the unborn child. The neural tube is usually formed within the first six weeks of pregnancy.

Good for digestion

Bloating and constipation is a common problem for any woman who is expectant. Ripe bananas contain fibre which help in these problems and eating one daily can keep at bay from all these.

Balances the blood pressure

High blood pressure is very dangerous especially to a woman who is pregnant. It can cause miscarriages and premature births or worse still death to the mother or unborn baby. Ripe bananas contain potassium which is good at maintaining the blood pressure in expectant mothers.

Treats anaemia

Pregnant women need excess blood to support the growth of the unborn child. Lack of sufficient blood can lead to the formation of anaemia to the mother hence need for more iron. Ripe bananas can help in increasing the level of haemoglobin hence high blood production to the body.
