Locals in Likoma Island are today expected to hold demonstrations against electricity challenge facing the district.

A fortnight ago, the demonstrations were put on hold to pave way for discussions with officials from Electricity Generation Company.

However, according to Father Jolly Chadzuka, General Secretary for Likoma Public Affairs Committee, the only running generator that was supplying power for the island has also developed a fault.

Chadzuka said this has worsened the situation as the islanders are consistently in blackout.

According to him, all stakeholders have been notified about the planned protest where concerned people are going to present a petition to relevant authorities.
