Uladi’s passport-gate case adjourned to January 2020

The High Court in Lilongwe has adjourned to 13 January 2020 a case on alleged corruption involving former minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Uladi Mussa how is accused of awarding Malawian Citizenship to foreigners.

Yesterday, the second accused person in the case former Immigration Officer David Kwanjana told the court that when he was Chief Citizenship Officer in the Immigration Department people from Commonwealth countries were treated differently from citizens of other countries when seeking Malawian citizenship.

He said citizens of commonwealth countries were required to reside in Malawi for 5 years while those from other countries 7 years for them to qualify for the award of Malawian citizenship.
