LEARNER PILOT CRASHES AIRCRAFT IN MALINDI

The plane which was piloted by a student Emmanuel Omindi has crashed in Malindi.

 

According to reports, the plane landed at the Malindi Airport shortly after it had taken off and was reportedly missing its front tyre at the time of the incident It was reported the pilot of the ill-fated plane was a student under instructions.

 

He had been advised to keep the plane airborne until it ran out of fuel A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Malindi Airport shortly after taking off due to lack of front wheel tyre.

 

The 5Y-BYQ plane which was being piloted by a student identified as Emmanuel Omindi crash landed on Monday, November 18, at around 3.15pm. Bishop According to a police report seen by TUKO.co.ke, Omindi had been advised to keep the aircraft airborne until its fuel was exhausted.

 

” It was reported by the officer in charge Malindi Airport police station C.I Mokaya that an aircraft 5Y-BYQ piloted by a student Emmanuel Omondi had a missing front wheel tyre while airborne as from 13:00 hours,” read the report.

 

The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Malindi Airport. Original It was further reported the pilot was receiving instructions until 2:20pm when he crash landed safely with no injuries.

 

The pilot was, however, rushed to Tawfiq Hospital while traumatized but the aircraft was slightly damaged.

 

This comes barely a week after Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia was summoned by the National Assembly to explain the rising cases of light airplane crashes in Kenya.
