Survey Reveals that Parliamentary Candidates in the last polls Spent K27 Million

The study conducted by the Michigan State University in collaboration with the Institute for Policy Interaction (IPI) and other Partners has revealed that parliamentary candidates spent the average of K27 million in the last polls.

According to the survey, it is expensive to run for parliamentary office in Malawi due to hand-outs culture.

Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Aisha Mambo Adams has called for a massive sensitization campaign on the new political parties’ act which bars hand-outs.
