Voting underaway in Matenje Ward

Voting has started at Matenje Ward in Kasungu District, where communities are choosing their Councillor in a by-election.

The local government by-election in the ward follows the death of councillor Alick Kambani Zithe.

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is facilitating and overseeing the election.

Last week MEC suspended the by-elections in Lilongwe South Constituency due to what the electoral body says political tension.

Meanwhile reports from Matenje Ward indicate that there is low turnout.
