17-Year-Old Boy Marries his 16-Year-Old Sweet Heart in Nigeria

The people of Nnewi in Anambra state in Nigeria recently witnessed the wedding ceremony of a 17-year-old boy only identified as Somto and his 16-year-old fiancée, according to local media.

The ceremony which reportedly happened according to Nnewi customs and tradition saw a huge crowd in attendance, CorrectNG reports.

The young boy who according to sources, is the last child of his parents, was said to have dropped out of school in October, insisting that he wants to get married.

Somto’s family after receiving serious pressure fom him finally decided to accept his request, and also sponsored the traditional marriage in which the public was invited.

According to reports, he is not the only son of his parent, since he has an elder brother, who is a graduate and is currently working in a Hospital within Anambra State.

Reports also have it that after the traditional marriage, the parents of Somto opened a retail shop for the couple to manage and possibly take care of themselves.

According to CorrectNG, As at the time of filing this report, the name of the bride and her place of origin was yet to be ascertained.
