A 55 -year-old man ,identified as Austin Biliyati Ulaya has died of excessive drinking in Mhuju area, Rumphi.
According to police report, Biliyati who was a tenant at a certain farm in the district was last seen in the afternoon hours of December 15, 2019.
It is reported that Biliyati left home without notifying his wife.
Later, in the evening, the wife and the neighbours started looking for him but to no avail.
Then on Monday, December 16, Biliyati was found dead a few metres away from his house.
Police and Medical Officers from Mhuju Health Centre visited the scene.
Postmortem results showed that death was due to hypoglycemia (Low blood sugar, the body’s main source of energy)
The deceased hailed from Pembeza Village under Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba district.
The Police are advising the public to avoid taking beer excessively on an empty stomach.
