Mzuzu High Court has dismissed a case by Illomba Granite Mining Company against Ilomba mining community, Senior Kameme, Civil Rights Non-Governmental Organisation leaders as well as concerned citizens, following the company’s decision to withdraw the case.
Speaking after the court ruling Monday, one of the defendants, who is also Chairperson for Natural Resources Justice Network in Malawi Cossam Munthali, said the case has been dismissed with no costs attached to parties concerned.
The mining company took the issue to court following concerns by the community that the company is failing to meet its social corporate responsibility.
