Mutharika pardons 184 prisoners as part of Christmas Celebrations

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has pardoned 184 prisoners across the country as part of Christmas and New Year Celebrations, Faceofmalawi can reveal.

This has been disclosed in a statement signed by Acting Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Homeland Security Dr. Hudson Mankhwala.

According to Mankhwala, the Prisoners who have been pardoned are those who were charged with minor offences and have demonstrated good behavioral reform.

“The Ministry of Homeland Security wishes to inform the general public that it has pleased His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to pardon a total of 184 prisoners as part of Christmas Celebrations.

“The pardon of the 184 prisoners by His Excellency the state President is an act of mercy during this festive season,” reads part of the statement.
