A jealous wife has set herself on fire and died on Wednesday after her husband took another wife.
The 28-year-old Nigerian woman who is also a mother of six set herself on fire, leaving no suicide note although neigbours claim she might have ended her bitterness since her husband, Badamasi Sufyan, married another wife six months ago.
The wife, Rabi Musa, according to a neighbour, died with a pregnancy after she set herself ablaze when her husband went to pray at a nearby mosque. Her husband returned home, found his wife in flames and shouted for help.
The incident happened at Sabuwar Unguwa, Ungoggo Local Government Area of the state.
“But when people rushed into the house, the woman was already burnt beyond recognition,” the source said.
“We all gathered here mourning until police arrived and evacuated the charred body of the deceased for burial. It is a horrific incident that left all of us devastated.
“Most of the people in this neighborhood were aware of Rabi’s extreme jealousy. She has been in crisis with her co-wife since her marriage about six months ago. That is what prompted the husband to separate them and relocated Rabi to this area. I’m not certain, but this incident might not be unconnected with that jealousy,” the neighbor said.
