HRDC ready for MEC lockdown demonstrations

All is set for national wide protest organized by Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) led by Timothy Mtambo aimed at forcing Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Commissioners to resign from their positions for failing to manage the May 21, 2019 polls.

The demonstrations follow court ruling nullifying the Presidential polls and calling for fresh polls in a period of 150 days.

The ruling which lasted for over 10 hours fauited MEC commissioner of gross incompetency in managing the polls and ordered the Public Appointments Committee (PAC) of Parliament to examine each commissioner’s capabilities.

Mtambo together with his Vice Gift Trapence were spotted in Lilongwe buying chains and locks to be used in sealing MEC officers.
