An accident that occurred Sunday night at Kawalazi Turnoff on the M5 Mzuzu-Nkhata Bay road has claimed a life of an 11 month old baby and a minibus driver, 34 year old Kelvin Kasambara.
Nkhata Bay police publicist sergeant Kondwani James says the minibus registration number BLK 3185 had on board 20 passengers, a footbal team and supporters heading from Mpamba to Kawalazi Tea Estate.
Eye witnesses told police that the driver failed to negotiate a bend which led to the vehicle overturning causing the casualties suffer head injuries to their death.
Three other passengers have sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Nkhata Bay district hospital.
