Some Human Are Born With Tail,Here Is Why

All human organs, both internal and external, have different functions and losing one will definitely have negative effect on your day-to-day activities.

But medicine has proven that we ca do with some organs without any effect on our day-to-day activities.

Organs such as appendix, can be removed without much consequence.

That’s because, while many body structures are useful in an obvious way, some structures have lost their original functions over the course of time.

What is vestigiality?

Human vestigiality refers to parts of the body that seem to no longer serve a purpose. These organs are labelled as “junk organs.”

Other examples of vestigiality include;Wisdom teeth, appendix, and body hair. Some people also have a vestigial tail.

Cause

Although a vestigial tail disappears for most people, sometimes the tail remains due to a defect during the developmental stage.

In the case of a “true” vestigial tail, the exact cause of this defect is unknown.

What is a vestigial tail made of?

When a vestigial tail remains after birth, what’s left is skin that contain no bones.

Although the tail lacks bones, it does contain nerves, blood, adipose tissue, connective tissue, and muscles.

Though in some, the tail may be moveable but cannot be used to grab anything, thereby remain useless.

Treatment

In order not to look devilish or abnormal in a society, treatment must be sought to handle this case.

Since vestigial tails contain no bone, these tails don’t typically cause pain or discomfort.

Babies born with a vestigial tail will need to undergo an imaging test such as an MRI or an ultrasound.

This is necessary to classify the tail and make sure it isn’t associated with a medical condition like spina bifida.

Surgery can be carried out to remove this tail in order to make the particular person become just like every other human being.

Side effects

There is no known side effects of removing the vestigial tail.
