Two bodies recovered in Lilongwe River

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has recovered two remaining bodies of Vinjeru and Taonga Nyirenda who drowned in Lilongwe River alongside their mother earlier this week.

The remains of the two were found at Mvera, along the banks of Lilongwe River, in a decomposed state.

Burial took place on Wednesday night, February 26, 2020.

The fact of the matter is that, the mother of the two Children identified as Linda Longwe drowned while trying to rescue her son Vinjeru Nyirenda 20 years of age.

Upon realizing that his mother and elder brother have drowned, Taonga (14) also jumped into the water in an attempt to save the two. Unfortunately, he drowned as well.

The body of Linda was recovered on February 24, 2020.
