Breaking News: Govt Abolishes Quota System, Reinstated JCE Examination

Reports reaching Face of Malawi indicate that government has abolished quota system of selecting students into public universities, and reinstated Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) Examination.

The announcement has been made by the minister responsible for Ministry of Education Science and Technology William Susuwele Banda.

According to a statement that the ministry has issued, the move follows what the poor performance of students in national examinations.

Banda has admitted that a lot of people had shown discontent when the exams were abolished.

He has also noted that students were relaxing a lot and for those that failed MSCE, there was nothing to show that they went through secondary school.

According to Banda the JCE examinations will be written in 2021.
