Bus involved in accident on South Rukuru road

Information reaching Faceofmalawi indicates that a bus has been involved in an accident on the South Rukuru road after hitting a damaged road.

The accident is suspected to have occurred due heavy rains experienced in the Northern part of Malawi resulting to landslide.

The accident which involved an Interline bus happened at M’buta lodge near Chitimba and the bus is said to have been on its way to Mzuzu from Chitipa district.

The Roads of Authority (RA) has since cautioned road users on travel on the stretch that has been affected by a landslide.

“Part of the mountain is sliding downwards into the road causing heaving and breaking of the road surface. This is due to saturation of water inside the mountain,” reads part of the statement.
