Minibus Operators Threaten a Sit-In

Minibus Operators in the country have threaten to stage a sit-in if government will continue in delaying meeting their grievances.

The minibus operators are accusing the government of delaying in addressing their grievances on the proliferation of illegal taxes in the country.

Chairperson of Minibus Owners Association of Malawi (MOAM) Felix Mbonekera confirmed o the staged sit-in.

Mbonekera said it is worrisome that the government has not treated their grievances with urgency it deserves.

Officials at the Directorate of Road Traffic promised to look into the issue.

However, Gilbert Kachamba an economist has called on authorities to look at the issue with urgency.

Kachamba said the sit-in might negatively affect labour force that relies on public transport.
