Police in Nigeria have arrested a 37-year-old woman for allegedly marrying two husbands, LailasNews reports.
The woman has been identified as Hauwa Ali who was arrested at her residence in Kumbotso Local Government, Kano State.
Reports say the arrest comes after her first husband, Bello Ibrahim filed a complaint at police.
During questioning at police, the woman denied to have been the wife of Ibrahim saying that Ibrahim divorced her a while ago and went to his village after they had sired 6 children together.
However, Ibrahim denied the claims insisting that the marriage between the two still exists.
The woman is currently with another man identified as 40-year-old Bala Abdulsalam who is said to have paid 20.000 Naira as a dowry to her and they have 3 children together.
According to tradition, the woman was not supposed to receive dowry from another man while she’s married.
Reports say that she will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
