Woman burnt to death in Mzuzu

An angry mob in Zolozolo Township in Mzuzu have torched to death an old woman over allegations that she had killed her grandchild.

The woman is suspected to have strangled to death her two-year-old grandson.

It remains unclear why she has done this.

The woman was apparently requested by her son to take one of his twin sons, who was taken ill, to a hospital.

She is thought to have strangled him on the way.

When the story made rounds, a mob descended on the woman, paraded her nude, beat her up severely before setting her on fire using old motor vehicle tyres.

No one has been arrested in connection to the matter.
