Muluzi Speaks Out On DPP, UDF Alliance

United Democratic Front(UDF) President Atupele Muluzi says his party decided to make an alliance with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) because both parties promote and respect democracy in the country.

Muluzi said this at Njamba freedom Park in Blantyre where both parties held a political rally.

The UDF leader said both parties also promote youths in country through provision of loans hence the introduction of economic planning action by the state president Peter Mutharika recently.

Addressing the cloud of people at the venue, DPP President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika said he is ready to lead for the alliance as torch bearer in the presidential elections slated to take place on May 19, 2020.

‘If supreme court will not change the decision made by constitution court, am ready to contest in fresh elections, ’said Mutharika adding that MCP and UTM will never rule this country.

On this note, DPP leader has since implored people of all walks of life including the sick to go and register when voter registration commences.

However, Mutharika has applauded his supporters for conducting peaceful protests national wide.

‘we have shown the world that it is possible to have peaceful demonstrations. No single person stoned shops or any other property during our parades, ’said Mutharika whose party was recently demonstrating against verdict by constitutional court to have fresh elections following the ruling that 21 may,2019 presidential elections were marred by numerous irregularities.

On February 3 constitutional court siting in Lilongwe ruled in favour of MCP and UTM to nullify the presidential results which ushered Arthur Peter Mutharika in power during the May 21, 2019 elections.
