A 36-year-old man has been seriously injured in Dowa district after the motor vehicle run over him at Chezi market.
Sub Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, Dowa Police Public Relations Officer said the victim has been identified as Chikaiko Mazinga from Chisonga Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chiwere in Dowa but the details of vehicle and the driver are not yet known.
“The accident happened on Wednesday at Chezi Market in Dowa involved a unknown motor vehicle and unknown driver. But, Traffic Police report indicates that the unknown motor vehicle was being driven by unknown driver within the market and in process it run over the victim who was sleeping on a pile of sweet potatoes.” He said
Following the impact the victim sustained fractured left thigh and the driver did not stop said M’bumpha.
“The victim was taken to Chankhungu Health Centre and Police have launched the hunt for the motor vehicle and the driver” he disclosed
