One of the leading banks in the country Standard Bank has donated class blocks worth 46 million Kwacha to Mzuzu Government Secondary School in a bid to enhance quality of education in the country.
Speaking during the handover ceremony Standard Bank Chief Financial Officer Temwani Simwaka said the bank is committed to support the education sector in the country.
The Bank is also well known with giving out scholarships to students.
“As a bank we will support education and partnership with the Press Trust we will pay their school fees for the entire four years at secondary school.
Simwaka said the school block is part of their 50th anniversary of providing various banking services to Malawians.
She added that the bank believes that only through education Malawians can effectively participate in economic development and know how to save their money.
Director of Administration at the ministry of education Hillary Namainja graced the handover ceremony.
Head Teacher Vincent Mudolo says the classroom block will alleviate some space challenges at the institution.
He has also asked well wishers to assist the school with the construction of a fence as they have some students with albinism who require security.
