A Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer is in the soup after he allegedly teamed up with his colleague to sexually violate a 17-year-old girl. This was reportedly after the law enforcement officer found the girl in the bush with her boyfriend.
According to reports reaching the publication, Nomore Gotora who is currently on the run allegedly forced himself onto the girl with the help of his colleague and accomplice, Senior Kumadzi,34, who has since been arrested.
Appearing before the court, Kumadzi, who is stationed at ZRP Chinamhora in Domboshava, was not asked to plead. He is facing rape charges for allegedly assisting his colleague in committing the crime.
According to state counsel Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti, the two suspects pounced on the victim on March 20 this year after kumadzi found her with her boyfriend on Maro Mountain. Kumadzi is alleged to have then fetched his handcuffs and ordered the 17-year-old and her friend to undress. After this, he then took away their clothes and handcuffed them together, whilst threatening to show the girl’s parents.
Kumadzi allegedly asked the two to be intimate while he watched, but they refused. He then walked away with the girl’s clothes before returning with Gotora. They removed the handcuffs and asked the boy to leave.
Gotora then made sexual advances towards the girl but was his efforts hit a brick wall. Unable to take no for an answer, he forced himself onto the girl and had sex with her without her consent. Kumadzi is said to have witnessed the incident as he stood guard. After the assault, Gotora left Kumadzi and the girl.
Kumadzi is said to have escorted the girl to her homestead and asked for her contact number, so that the two officers could send her money to conceal the assault. But she reported the assault and Kumadzi was arrested, while Gotora is still being hunted.
Magistrate Ms Barbra Maketo presided over the case.
The matter is still pending.
