Former Police IG attacks Nkhoma Synod reversing 21 days lockdown

Former Inspector General (IG) of the Malawi Police Loti Dzonzi has faulted the Nkhoma Synod of the CCAP for reversing its decision on 21 days lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Last week, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika imposed a 21 days lockdown which was expected to commence on April 18, 2020 to May 9, 2020.

But the lockdown failed following an injunction obtained by Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) led by its Chairperson Gift Trapence on Friday.

The move also saw Nkhoma Synod reversing its decision on the matter citing the injunction obtained by HRDC leaders.

However, the move has not pleased Dzonzi who has since penned the Synod on the matter.

Below is an open letter by Dzonzi;

An open letter to Ministers of Nkhoma Synod.

I am a bonafide member of the CCAP Church the Synod of Nkhoma and proud to be. I look forward to your leadership on things earthly and things eternal. Last week you provided leadership on a thing earthly, Covid-19.

As one of the vulnerable membrrs of your Church, 61 years old and diabetic and therefore immune compromised I was delighted about the decision.

You then resrrved the devision based on the fact that HRDC obtain an injunction. The govt lockdown is based on health considerations and the HRDC injunction is based on human rights considerations.

Nkhoma Synod is one of the forerunners of the provision of health services in this country. I think bu abandoning the lockdown you have abdicated your leadership respinsibilities in the health sector.

Worse still your change of position is based on internal politics, threats to rrmove one another from positions and unsubstatiated accusation of your leaders having received khaki envelopes. It is a decision not based on the health interest of your vhurch membership.

The reason I have been diabetic for 20 years now might be because of my lack of or little faith. I represent a good number of your Christians of such little faith. You have to take us into considrration. The stronger brothers, which you are as you are all male, must take care of the weak brothers and sisters.( I should mention though, that I am one of thd few of your Church lay preachers that have prayed for the sick in your churches and they got healed, some from diabetes. Why God healed them and not me praying for them only God can explain.)

Prudence demands that we take preventive measures rather than expose over a million church members to Covid-19. As leadrrs are you not confident that you have ministered to us sufficiently that we can stand alone as household churches in our homes without you? If you are afraid that we will not, isn’t evidence that your ministries have not succeeded to bred a Christian cadre that can withstand hardship such as this away from your presence?

TAKE A LEADERSHIP STAND PROTECT MEMBERS OF YOUR CHURCH. AS TO BICKERING FOR SYNOD POSITION DO IT AFTER THIS OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE NO SYNOD TO LEAD, ALL DEAD BECAUSE YOU WERE NOT COURAGEOUS TO PROTECT US. MY CONTACT IS 0995161708.
