Police fires teargas at angry mob for mounting illegal roadblock in Nkhotakota

Police in Nkhotakota Tuesday night used teargas to disperse mob that had mounted an illegal roadblock at Sani along the M5 Lakeshore road with intent to stop mourners who were coming from a funeral ceremony of a colleague who was killed on blood sucking allegations.

Sani is the place where two people who had gone for a night of prayer at the mountain were killed for being accused of being blood suckers.

According to information gathered, over 2000 people at Sani, had mobilized themselves and mounted the roadblock after it was rumoured that, upon their return from the burial ceremony, mourners who had earlier in the day passed through the place in lorries would stop at the place for revenge.

Police had to be called in to contain the situation and managed to let the mourners who had buried their slain colleague in TA Mwansambo, pass under their escort.

Meanwhile, police say no arrest has been made so far.
