Nigerian Police Officer Shoots Dead Fellow Female Officer

A female police officer in Nigeria has allegedly been shot dead by a fellow Policeman.

According to reports, the incident happened inside a market on Friday April 23, 2020. The policewoman is said to have tried stopping the policeman and other members of the taskforce on COVID-19 lockdown from destroying the wares of the Port Harcourt market, the time she was shot dead.

An eye witness took to his social media page where he shared; When I say the Nigeria police needs orientation on handling arms people don’t take it serious. Just happening now a female policewoman was gunned down at Eneka in Port Harcourt by Governor Wike task force team who came to chase people who were selling in a market. The female police officer who controls traffic at the market was shot down by a policeman.

“The female policewoman was begging on behalf of a shoe trader who was arrested by the policeman from the taskforce team. The policeman threatened to shoot the trader if he doesn’t stop resisting arrest. As he pointed the gun the trader dodged the bullet only for it to catch the female policewoman on her head. She left a 2 year old child she just finished breastfeeding 30mins before she died. She normally leaves the child with her nanny at a shop at the Eneka first market junction.. SMH”

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan said the Policeman has been arrested, disarmed and subjected to orderly room trial.

“A policeman attached to the taskforce did the shooting. He was shooting anyhow and in the process killed another policewoman. The Policewoman was hit by a stray bullet”, he said.
