Zambian Man Apologizes to His Son for Beating Him Over Poor Performance in School

A Zambian national, George Bester has been forced to apologize to his 19-year-old son after a video of him slapping the teenager emerged.

While explaining his actions, Bester claimed that his son had not shown any remorse despite flunking his grade 12 exams .

“I got agitated, lost control and slapped my son several times when he blamed the education system in Zambia for failing his exams among other excuses, I felt disrespected by his reaction,” he explained.

In the said video, Bester is seen slapping the boy, while complaining about the money he has spent on the boy for school books and tuition fees.

A voice of a woman, believed to be his wife, is heard pleading with Bester to stop beating the boy.

Bester’s wife Musumpa said she took the video so that the family would talk about it once the temperatures cooled off.

A Zambian tabloid previously reported that Bester had been summoned by the police to record a statement on the matter.

The Zambian dad was required to report to the Child Protection Unit offices at the Ministry of Community Development earlier in the week for the purposes of inquiry.
