Botomani contradicts Mutharika, says no lockdown in Malawi only restrictions

Minister of Information and Communication Technology Mark Botomani has contradicted President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on the declared 21 days lockdown scheduled to commence on the midnight of 18 April 2020 to May 9, 2020.

On Tuesday night, President Mutharika declared a 21 days lockdown to combat the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.

Mutharika said the decision to impose the lockdown was to prevent more deaths as a result of the virus which has killed thousands of people across the world.

But speaking on British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on Wednesday, Botomani contradicted Mutharika by saying there is no lockdown in Malawi.

Botomani said the country has just imposed strict measures to avoid further spread of coronavirus which has claimed two lives in the country.

Below is what Botomani told BBC;
