Cow Kills Woman In Chikwawa

A woman, Selina Sam, 85 has been killed in Chikwawa after she was kicked by a cow which had just given birth.

Police said a nephew to the deceased, Lucio Delemani reported that Selina met her fate on March 31, 2020 when she was sweeping around her house.

Chikwawa Police Station Deputy Public Relations Officer, Dickson Matemba said on Wednesday that while in the course of her work, cow which was lactating came and when it saw a granny bending down, it ran towards her and kicked her down and violently trampled her several times.

“The matter was reported at Nchalo Police Post and they rushed to the scene accompanied by a medical clinician from Ndakwera Health Centre who confirmed that Selina had died due to head injuries,” he said.

Police in the district is appealing to farmers who raise livestock to take precautionary measures when raising their livestock especially those lactating to avoid incidents of this nature.

Selina Sam hailed from Njalima Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Ndakwera in Chikwawa.
