Fire destroyed a wholesale and millions of kwacha worth property at Luchenza Municipality in Thyolo.
According to the eye witnesses, they saw smoke coming from the roof of the wholesale.
Unfortunately, Luchenza Municipal Council has no firefighting engine but residents tried to put off the fire until fire fighters from Blantyre City Council, though late, came and assisted in putting off the fire but the damage had already been done.
Councilor of the area Henderson Supuni, expressed concern over the lack of firefighting engine in Luchenza.
“it’s unfortunate for the whole municipality to have no firefighting engine, this is very dangerous,” he said.
Meanwhile, the owner of the wholesale, identified as Mr. Chinangwa, was not available to comment on the matter.
