Health Workers risk allowance hiked following national wide strike

Ministry of Health has revised the risk allowance for healthcare workers with effect from April 1, 2020, faceofmalawi can reveal.

This follows nationwide protests by healthcare workers who were demanding review of their risk allowance in the wake of COVID-19.

“I am pleased to inform you that the Treasury has approved the revised Risk Allowance for Health Workers which will be effected from April 1, 2020,” reads in part the letter signed by Secretary for Health Bestone Chisamile addressed to all Hospital Directors.
