Malunga Says Business has Gone Down by 40% Due to the Covid-19

Owner and the Executive Director of Bantu Art and Crafts Edward Malunga has admitted that his business has gone down by forty percent due to the impact of Corona Virus pandemic.

Malunga said the impact started long when the outbreak was reported some months ago.

“Worse still, this has come at a time when there are elections disputes and the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 that causes Corona disease has come in adding on the already existing problems,” he said.

The Blantyre based business man said businesses have been hit hard considering the fact that we are a country that depends on imported goods mostly.

“People have minimized their movements and everybody is cautious about buying for fear of what will happen in future,” he said.

Malunga further said that he does not know when businesses will pick up looking at the way things are economically, politically and socially.

The outbreak of the Corona Virus has seen countries like South Africa, India, United States of America, Spain and Italy among others imposing a lockdown movement of people as one way of controlling the spread of the disease.

Some companies in some countries have sent its workers on unpaid leave to curb the spreading of the disease.
