Married Woman Killed After Husband Finds Romantic Text Messages From Another Man

In Zimbabwe, a married woman suspected of having an extramarital affair with another man was brutally assaulted by her husband when she was caught red-handed with romantic text messages from the alleged home-wrecker.

Unfortunately, the married woman, Nyasha Mudzimu, 32, succumbed to injuries she sustained during the attack. The incident happened in Nyanyadzi, Manicaland.

According to information obtained by iHarare, Amos Gwinya, 33, assaulted his wife, the now-deceased, after he intercepted text messages from her alleged boyfriend.

The messages are said to have been of an intimate nature leading him to make a conclusion that she was cheating on him.

This did not go down well with the husband who in a fit of rage, pummelled his wife with his fists. So brutal was the beating that neighbours closeby were forced to visit the accused’s homestead to investigate the noise. The woman was then rescued and was rushed to hospital.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident

‘Amos Gwinya assaulted his wife, Nyasha Mudzimu, on March 6 after he had discovered some love text messages from her boyfriend. He indiscriminately beat her up until neighbours came to her rescue.
She was taken to Mutambara Mission Hospital, where she was transferred to Mutare Provincial Hospital the same night,’ he said.

The Manicaland police spokesperson said Mudzimu sustained multiple injuries on her face and neck, as well as bruises all over her body.

Inspector Kakohwa said Mudzimu died on April 8 from the injuries sustained during the scuffle.

Gwinya was arrested soon after committing the crime. He was at first charged with assault charges. However, following Mudzimu’s death, he is now facing murder charges.
