Court says Alfandika did not provide proof that all complaints were resolved

Date:

The Supreme Court of Appeal in Lilongwe says Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chief Elections Officer Sam Alfandika did not provide evidence that all complaints reported to MEC during 2019 elections were resolved before announcing the results.

The Supreme court has agreed with High court that there was no evidence to show for that.

The court further says ‘the court below adequately dealt with the issue of how MEC failed to resolve complaints by the political parties during the elections.’

The Supreme Court is expected to give verdict on whether Constitution court erred in declaring 2019 presidential elections null and void.

More details to come….
