8 people who tested positive to COVID-19 escapes from Kameza Isolation center

Information reaching Faceofmalawi indicates that eight of the 17 Malawians who were repatriated from South Africa have escaped from isolation center at Kameza in Blantyre.

Blantyre District Director of Health and Social Services, Dr. Gift Kawalazira confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Kawalazira, the people tested COVID-19 positive and were being separated from their fellows from Kamuzu stadium where they arrived at.

A manhunt is meanwhile underway and security has been tightened at the center, according to Dr. Kawalazira.
