Man kills his mother by pushing her inside burning house

KENYA – Police officers in Masaba North, Nyamira County, have launched a hunt for a man who allegedly burnt down his house and killed his mother in the process.

30-year-old Jared Masanya on Monday at around 10a.m reportedly set his house as well as that of his brother, Simon Ogeka, ablaze in Magwero village.

According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, area residents intervened and put out the fire on Mr. Ogeka’s house.

Masanya’s mother, Teresia Kemuma, then led the villagers in an attempt to also extinguish the fire on the suspect’s house.

“He grabbed her and threw her inside the house which was on fire and locked the door from outside,” read the report.

The 60-year-old woman burnt to death while the suspect, whose motive still remains unclear, fled the scene and is presently being tracked by police.
