UNICEF donates 18 vehicles to Ministry of Health to enhance provision of immunisation services.

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has donated 18 vehicles to the Ministry of Health valued at about K1.2 billion for enhanced provision of immunisation services.
Receiving the donation on Friday in Lilongwe, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health Dr. Dan Namarika said the vehicles will help in the distribution of vaccines from Central government stores to various districts across the country.
In his remarks when he presented the vehicles, UNICEF Chief of Health and HIV Dr.Tedla Damte hailed government for achieving over 80% coverage of immunisation for the past 10 years.
UNICEF has donated the vehicles through Gavi, a public – private global health partnership with the goal of increasing access to immunisation in poor countries.
