Independent President Phunziro Mvula withdraws from fresh polls, endorses Chakwera

Independent Presidential Candidate Phunziro Mvula has withdrawn from the fresh Presidential race in protest against the current Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) incompetency.

Mvula disclosed this at Mount Soche International Conference Centre where he was scheduled to present nomination papers ahead of the fresh Presidential polls.

In an interview Mvula alleged that MEC chaired by Dr. Jane Ansah is conniving with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to rig the elections.

Mvula has since endorsed the grand alliance of the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) led by Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

He said Chakwera has the power to change things in the country.
